Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between obesity parameters(Body Mass Index and Waist Circumference) and Heart Rate Variability(HRV) in premenopausal women.

Methods: The study was performed in 71 premenopausal women from 25 to 44 year-old who visited to an oriental medical clinic in, height and weight were measured using electronic instrument. To measure autonomic nerve activity, 5-minute electrocardiographic recordings were analyzed with time and frequency domain methods of Heart Rate Variability(HRV).

Results:
1. RMSSD(the square root of the mean squared differences of successive normal-to-normal intervals) and Ln HF(high frequency power) showed significant correlation with Body Mass Index. Correlation coefficience of RMSSD and Ln HF with Body Mass Index was r=-0.260(p<0.05) and r=-0.343(p<0.01) respectively.
2. SDNN(the standard deviation of all the normal RR interval), RMSSD, Ln TP(total power) and Ln HF showed significant correlation with Waist Circumference. Correlation coefficience of SDNN, RMSSD, Ln TP and Ln HF with Waist Circumference was r=-0.255(p<0.05), r=-0.343(p<0.01), r=-0.256(p<0.05), and r=-0.395(p<0.01) respectively.

Conclusions: There was a significant relationship of Heart Rate Variability(HRV) with obesity parameters(Body Mass Index and Waist Circumference) in premenopausal women. As Body Mass Index and Waist Circumference were increased, activity of the autonomic nerve system was decreased, especially parasympathetic activity was significantly decreased.
